Austrian State Prize for Design 2026, ‘Spaces & Environment’. Happy to be shortlisted!

Over the past few years, we have been working on a project for the public space of the municipality of Gmunden, Upper Austria.
Guidance systems, shared spaces and ongoing implementations.

For the 51st time, the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism is presenting the State Design Award for outstanding design achievements in which Austrian companies and/or Austrian designers have played a part, based on the decision of an international and independent expert jury. The award is organised and run by designaustria, the knowledge centre and advocacy body for design in Austria.

The finalists for the 2026 State Design Prize have been announced! The international jury faced a major task this year: 176 projects by 130 product designers and companies were in the running for the 2026 State Design Award and selected 31 entries from across Austria for the shortlist.

A total of 3 projects will be honoured with a State Design Award; 9 nominations will be awarded, 14 projects will receive a commendation, and 5 special prizes will be awarded.

The winners of the State Design Prize, as well as the nominees and award recipients, will be announced at the official awards ceremony for invited guests on Thursday, 16 April 2026 at the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna. At the same time, the catalogue for the 2026 State Design Prize will be launched and the exhibition featuring all the winning and nominated entries will open at the designforum Wien.
